What tooling do I need to make this pen?

To make this kit, you will need (all sold separately):

• Drill bit 3/8"

• Bushing set JWB-BU

• Mandrel A/7 mm

NOTE: We recommend squaring the tube on a disc sander for this kit. A 3/8" pen mill can be a very tight fit inside the tube when used on a drill press, which may scratch the interior and create excess friction between parts, preventing smooth twist operation.

This is a woodworking turning project that requires drilling, turning, finishing, and assembly using woodworking equipment. You will not receive a finished pen.

What size blank do I need?

Use a standard pen blank sized approximately 3/4" square by 5" long. This provides ample material for drilling, turning, and trimming during the process. This kit is shown with a Fusion pen blank FUS-80 “Garnet” (blank not included). 

What refill does this kit take?

This kit uses a Parker-style ballpoint refill, which is included. Parker-style refills are widely available and easy to replace.

Can I turn this pen into a pencil?

Yes, you can easily convert this pen into a long-lasting pencil by replacing the ink refill with a Parker-style Forever pencil refill. Simply remove the ink refill, slide the spring onto the Forever pencil refill, and insert it into the pen. The result is a smooth-writing pencil that doesn’t require sharpening and lasts an incredibly long time.
