Designed and engineered to sit amongst the highest quality pen kits available, the Mistral fountain pen kit is manufactured to exacting standards and tolerances and features premium quality platings for a refined, luxurious finish. Each kit includes a German-made Beaufort medium nib and a Beaufort ink pump (converter) for use with bottled fountain pen ink.
The Mistral is also compatible with a Bock size 5 (type 180) nib for those who wish to upgrade or customize their writing experience.

What tooling do I need to make this kit?

To make this turning project, you will need (all sold separately):

• Bushing set MIS-RB-FP-BU (also referred to as “bushes” in the instructions)

• Drill bits 15/32" and 25/64"

• Pen mill shafts 10 mm/ 25/64", and 15/32"

• Mandrel: A/7 mm

This is a woodworking turning project that requires drilling, turning, finishing, and assembly using standard woodworking equipment. You will not receive a finished pen.

What refill does this kit take?

The Mistral fountain pen kit uses standard international fountain pen ink cartridges and includes a Beaufort ink pump for filling from bottled ink. It also accepts Bock size 5 (type 180) nib units.

What size blank do I need?

We recommend using a pen blank measuring at least 3/4" square by 5", giving you enough material for drilling and shaping. Shown here with Kingwood (blank not included — see the Related Products tab for a link).
