What size is the blank?

Each blank measures approximately 3/4" × 3/4" × 5" (19 × 19 × 127 mm), making it suitable for most single- and double-barrel pen kits.

How should I finish acrylic acetate?

Acrylic acetate turns easily using sharp tools. For a high-gloss finish, sand progressively using Abranet or sanding mesh, followed by Micro Mesh, then polish with a plastic polish such as Novus or One-Step Plastic Polish.

How do I keep the brass tube from showing through the turned blank?

For the best results, we strongly recommend painting both the brass tube and the inside of the drilled hole before gluing the tube into the blank. Because acrylic acetate can be slightly translucent, an unpainted brass tube may show through the material. The paint colour you choose can subtly influence the final appearance of the blank. We recommend a durable enamel hobby paint that is readily available at most hobby and craft stores.
