Salt shaker and peppermill combo kit – ceramic grinder
Turn a practical two-in-one table accessory that combines a salt shaker and peppermill in a single project. Grind fresh pepper from the bottom and pour salt from the top for convenient seasoning without needing two separate pieces on the table.
The finished project stands approximately 6-1/2" (165 mm) high and features an adjustable ceramic peppermill grinding mechanism. Both the salt and peppercorn compartments are designed for easy refilling. It's a functional turning project that also makes a thoughtful handmade gift.
How does the salt shaker and peppermill work?
The upper portion holds and dispenses salt, while the bottom contains the peppercorns and ceramic grinding mechanism. Turn the mill to grind fresh pepper from the bottom, or use the top to dispense salt. The ceramic peppermill mechanism is adjustable so you can change the coarseness of the pepper to suit your preference.
What tools do I need to make this kit?
To make this project, you will need the following (all sold separately):
- 1-1/16" Forstner bit
- 1-1/2" Forstner bit
- Jam chuck
This is a woodworking turning project that requires drilling, turning, finishing and assembly with woodworking equipment. You will not receive a finished salt shaker and peppermill.
What size blanks do I need?
To make this project you'll need a base blank minimum 2-1/2" × 4" long (64 × 102 mm) and a head blank minimum 2-1/2" × 2" long (64 × 51 mm). A 6" project blank (152 mm) will work for this project. The finished example shown is turned from South American Mahogany. Blank sold separately.
