Poly resin pen blank bundle – 5 pack – 3/4" square by 5" (19 mm x 19 mm x 127 mm)

Create bold, eye-catching pens with this 5-pack of poly resin pen blanks. Featuring rich, vibrant colours and an iridescent shimmer, these blanks are designed to stand out and add depth and movement to your finished projects.

Poly resin blanks are slightly more challenging to work with than acrylic acetate, but the results are well worth it. With the right approach, they produce stunning, high-gloss finishes that really pop.

What size are the blanks?

Each blank measures approximately 3/4" square by 5" long (19 mm x 19 mm x 127 mm). We do not replace blanks damaged during cutting, drilling, trimming, turning, finishing, or assembly.

What is included in the bundle?

The bundle includes 5 poly resin pen blanks, one each of Grasslands, Horseshoe Falls, Peggy's Cove, Sorry and Totem Pole.

What makes poly resin blanks unique?

Poly resin blanks are known for their depth, shimmer, and vibrant colour combinations. They offer a more dynamic visual effect than standard acrylics but require a bit more care during turning to avoid chipping or blowouts.

How should I finish these blanks?

We recommend sanding with MicroMesh up to 12,000 grit (or using an abrasive paste like Superior Grit Microfine) and finishing with a plastic polish for a durable, high-gloss shine.

How do you recommend working with these blanks?

  • When drilling:
Avoid heat buildup. Drill slowly and reduce pressure as you approach the exit point to prevent blowouts. Alternatively, cut your blank about 3/4" longer than the brass tube, drill just past the tube length without exiting the blank, then trim the end to expose the hole.
  • When turning:
Use sharp tools only. Dull tools require more pressure and can cause chipping or blowouts. Take light cuts and work slowly. Avoid generating excess heat.
  • When assembling:
Press components carefully and stop once they meet the barrel. Over-pressing can crack the blank.
  • Before gluing in the tubes:
We strongly recommend painting the outside of the brass tube and the inside of the drilled hole before gluing. This prevents the brass from showing through the blank. The paint colour you choose will influence the final look—acrylic paint from most hobby stores works well.
