Drill bits

Drill bits

Drilling the correct hole is one of the most important steps in any woodturning project. In this section, you’ll find drill bits commonly used for pen turning and other small turning projects. To make it easy to find what you need, our drill bits are listed in order of size.

Compare drill sizes with this chart.

Twist drill vs brad point drill bit? Both twist and brad point drill bits will do a good job for your turning projects, but there are a few reasons you may want to consider giving brad point drill bits a try:

  • A brad point drill bit is designed to be used on wood, whereas a twist drill is a general purpose drill bit.
  • The pinpoint tip of a brad point drill makes centering on your blank more accurate.
  • Brad point drills cut with precision for a neat, clean drill hole.
  • The chance of blowout is decreased because the point exits the blank first.
