Improve accuracy and help prevent mandrel shaft deflection with the Pen Master NoFlex live centre mandrel saver. Designed for lathes with a Morse Taper 2 tailstock, the NoFlex supports your pen turning setup by applying pressure directly to the bushing rather than to the end of the mandrel shaft.
This helps eliminate one of the common causes of mandrel shaft bending and can contribute to straighter, more accurately turned pen barrels.
How does the NoFlex mandrel saver work?
Unlike a conventional live centre that applies tailstock pressure to the end of the mandrel shaft, the NoFlex presses directly against the bushing. This allows the bushings and pen blank to be held securely without putting unnecessary pressure on the mandrel shaft.
Why is reducing mandrel shaft bending important?
A mandrel shaft that bows or flexes while turning can contribute to out-of-round or uneven pen barrels and make it more difficult to achieve an accurate fit between the turned blank and the pen kit components. By keeping tailstock pressure off the end of the shaft, the NoFlex helps reduce this problem.
