Padauk (also known as Vermillion) is a tropical hardwood from Central and West Africa. When freshly cut, it boasts a vivid pink-orange hue that gradually deepens into a rich, reddish-brown as it ages—making each piece truly unique over time. The wood features a straight, open grain, is easy to work with, and offers good durability.
Fun facts about Padauk:
It’s sometimes called the “wood that glows” for its bright, fiery tones.
Padauk is known to be insect-resistant and is even used in musical instruments and traditional carvings in Africa.
The deepening colour of Padauk is due to natural oxidation—no dyes or stains needed!
The picture is a typical representation. Each blank is randomly selected and will vary naturally in tone and grain.
