Teacher double-ended pen kit – red & black ink

Two ink colours in one handy pen. The Teacher pen kit is a double-ended ballpoint pen with red ink at one end and black ink at the other, making it easy to switch colours simply by flipping the pen around. Originally designed with teachers in mind, it’s a practical project for anyone who regularly uses two ink colours for marking, editing, note-taking or organizing.

What makes the Teacher pen different?

Instead of a single refill, the Teacher pen uses two mini ballpoint refills — one red and one black — positioned at opposite ends of the pen. 

A popular way to turn this kit is to use a different wood or blank colour for each half of the pen. For example, pair a reddish wood with the red refill and a dark wood with the black refill for an easy visual cue to which ink colour is at each end. You can also mix contrasting woods, acrylics or other pen blank materials to create your own combination.

What tooling do I need to make this kit?

To make this kit, you will need (all sold separately):

• 7 mm drill bit
• 7 mm pen mill
• Bushing set 1A
• Pen mandrel A/7 mm

This is a woodturning project kit that requires turning, finishing, and assembly using woodworking equipment. You will not receive a finished pen. 

What size blank do I need to make this pen?

This pen requires a pen blank measuring 3/4" square by 5" long, which provides ample material for turning, shaping, and trimming during the process. You can also use blanks that are 5/8" square for this kit.

What refill does this pen take?

This pen uses two mini ink refills, one black and one red, which are included with the kit.
