Usage and safety information:

  • These tools come with replaceable carbide cutters. Simply rotate the cutter when one side gets dull. When you've used all the sides, just replace with a new cutter or use a Trend diamond sharpening stone with lapping fluid to sharpen. Do not use dull cutters – not only will the tool not work properly, but it can also be a safety hazard.
  • Set tool rest height so the top of the cutter aligns with the centre of the spindle.
  • Hold the tool flat on the tool rest and parallel to the floor.
  • Don’t force the tool to cut. Light, slow cuts work best. These tools are very sharp and can dig into the blank if too much pressure is applied.
  • Make sure the blank you are working on is secured properly and tightly.
  • Wear safe and protective clothing as well as safety glasses and/or a face shield and use a dust mask when necessary.
  • Read and understand your lathe’s owner’s manual.
