What size are the blanks?

Each blank measures a minimum of 3/4" × 3/4" × 5" (19 mm x 19 mm x 127 mm), a standard size that works well with most pen kits and provides ample material for drilling, turning, and trimming. 

What is burl?

Burl is a rare, abnormal growth that forms on a tree in response to stress, injury, or disease. Instead of straight grain, burl produces tight swirls, eyes, and complex figure, making it highly prized for high-end furniture, decorative inlay, and premium turned objects like pens.

What does mottled mean?

“Mottled” refers to an uneven, patchy appearance made up of mixed light and dark areas. In wood, it describes a natural variation in colour or figure that looks blotchy, cloud-like, or marbled rather than uniform or straight-grained. In these blanks, it means the surface will show irregular colouring and tonal shifts, adding depth and a unique, organic look to each piece.
