What tooling do I need to make this kit?

To make this kit, you will need (all sold separately):

  11/32 drill bit
  3/8 × 16 f/po tap
  Live centre
  Jacobs chuck or drill chuck for your lathe

This is a woodworking turning project kit that requires drilling, turning, finishing, and assembly using woodworking equipment. You will not receive a finished coffee scoop.

What size blank do I need?

The minimum blank size is 1" square by 5" long, giving you plenty of material for shaping and finishing a comfortable handle. Shown here in Redheart; blank not included.

How is the insert installed?

Drill a 13.2 mm (0.52") deep hole into your blank using a 33/64 drill bit and glue the threaded insert in place. Mount the project on the bottle stopper mandrel, then thread the handle on and off as needed. A bottle stopper drill and tap set can also be used instead of the insert.
