Fusion hybrid project block – stabilized burl and acrylic, product of Canada. 

This Fusion/Hybrid project block is handcrafted in Guelph, Ontario, combining stabilized burl with vibrant acrylic for a bold, one-of-a-kind turning blank. Each block measures a minimum of 2" x 2" x 5-1/2". Because each piece is unique, no two blocks will ever be the same. Natural burl figure and striking resin swirls ensure your finished work stands out.

Pro tips for turning Fusion blanks:

• Always use razor-sharp tools (we recommend the Pen Master ACCU-CUT round chisel) and take very light cuts to avoid blowouts.

• Make sure your brass tube is fully covered in glue before inserting into the blank — uncovered spots can fail near the end of turning.

• For best results, paint the outside of your brass tube and the inside of your drilled hole before gluing to prevent the tube from showing through. A durable enamel paint works best.

• Finish as you would with a wooden blank. If using Micro Mesh, wet sanding helps avoid fine scratches in the acrylic.

• Small voids are natural in burl/acrylic blanks — simply fill with thick CA glue.
