Fusion hybrid bottle stopper / ring block – product of Canada

Handcrafted by our artisan team in Guelph, Ontario, these Fusion hybrid bottle stopper blanks combine stabilized burl with vibrant acrylic for bold colour, dramatic contrast, and excellent durability on the lathe. Each blank is completely unique, with natural wood figure seamlessly fused to acrylic for striking one-of-a-kind results.

What are the dimensions of this blank?

Each blank measures a minimum of 1-1/2" × 1-3/8" × 2-1/2". Because these are handcrafted Fusion hybrids, slight variations may occur — but all blanks meet or exceed the stated minimum size.

What projects can I make with this blank?

This versatile size is ideal for bottle stoppers, ornaments, shaving brush handles, cutting your own ring blanks and other small accent turning projects. The combination of stabilized burl and acrylic makes it especially well suited for projects where colour, chatoyance, and contrast really shine.

How should I finish this blank?

Fusion blanks should be finished the same way you would finish a wood blank. For best results, we recommend sanding through your normal grit progression. If using Micro Mesh, wet sand to prevent fine scratches in the acrylic. For a high-gloss finish, we recommend polishing with a plastic polish such as Novus or One-Step plastic polish after sanding.

Tips for turning success

  • Use razor-sharp tools and take very light cuts to avoid blowouts. The Pen Master ACCU-CUT round chisel is an excellent choice for controlled shaping.
  • Ensure your tube (if using one) is fully covered with glue when inserting it. Any uncovered area may fail as you approach final dimensions.
  • Small voids may occasionally appear during turning. These are not defects and can easily be filled with thick CA glue, then re-sanded and polished.
  • Take your time. Hybrid material rewards a patient, light-touch approach.

These blanks are carefully inspected for quality before shipping. No replacements are offered for blanks damaged during cutting, drilling, trimming, turning, finishing, or assembly.
