Desert Ironwood pen blanks. Each blank measures approximately 3/4" square by 5" long, making it ideal for most pen kits and other small turning projects.
Turn something truly special with Desert Ironwood—a legendary wood known for its incredible hardness, rich colour, and dramatic grain. Native to the Sonoran Desert of the southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico, this dense and durable wood is prized by woodturners for its natural beauty and workability.

Here are two fun facts about Desert Ironwood:
Heavier than water – Desert Ironwood is so dense that it actually sinks instead of floating! With a specific gravity greater than 1.0, it's one of the heaviest woods found in North America.
Living trees are protected – While turning stock is legally harvested from naturally fallen trees or deadwood, living Desert Ironwood trees are protected in much of the Sonoran Desert due to their critical role in the ecosystem, providing shade and habitat for many desert species.
