Aluminium composite segmenting panel – 3 mm (0.118") – 6" × 8"
Add striking segmented accents to your projects with this Aluminium composite segmenting panel.
Each panel measures 152.4 mm × 203.2 mm (6" × 8") and is 3 mm (0.118") thick with a polyethylene core.
Perfect for use in pen blanks, project blocks or knife handles.
Tips for making your own segmented blanks:
Peel off the clear protective film on both sides before starting.
Lightly scuff both sides of the panel and the adjoining blank pieces with sandpaper for stronger adhesion.
Clean segments thoroughly after sanding to remove dust and debris.
Check that each segment has square corners using a carpenter’s square or drafting triangle. Trim or sand until they’re perfectly square.
Sand edges smooth and clean surfaces before gluing to ensure a strong bond.
Use a strong glue like two-part epoxy for extra working time to align everything.
When drilling or squaring ends with a pen mill, place a scrap blank underneath to support the piece and reduce pressure — this helps prevent blowouts.
After the glue has cured, mount the blank securely on the lathe. Take light cuts and check your progress often. Avoid heavy pressure to prevent shifting segments or glue joint failure.
