Chic-Line 7 mm ballpoint pen kit

Add a little extra detail to a classic pen design with the Chic-Line ballpoint pen kit. Featuring decorative scrolling fretwork on the pen end and a distinctive rotating wheel on the clip, the Chic-Line offers an eye-catching alternative to a traditional Slimline while remaining easy to turn and assemble.

The kit uses the same mechanism, brass tubes and Cross-style refill as a Slimline pen kit, making it a great choice for turners already familiar with the Slimline design.

What tooling do I need to make this kit?

To make this kit, you will need the following items (all sold separately):

7 mm drill bit
7 mm pen mill shaft
Bushing set 1A
Pen mandrel A / 7 mm

This is a woodworking turning project that requires drilling, turning, sanding, finishing and assembly using standard woodworking tools and equipment. You are purchasing the kit components, not a finished pen.

What size pen blank do I need?

This kit requires a pen blank measuring approximately 3/4" square × 5" long (19 × 19 × 127 mm). Smaller 5/8" square × 5" blanks (16 × 16 × 127 mm) can also be used. The pen shown is turned from Sycamore. Blank sold separately; see the Related Products tab for a link.

What refill does this pen use?

The Chic-Line uses a Cross-style ballpoint refill. Compatible Cross-style replacement refills can be used when the original refill runs out.

Can I turn the Chic-Line into a pencil?

Yes. Replace the ballpoint refill with a Cross-style Forever pencil refill to turn your finished Chic-Line into a pencil. This also makes it easy to create coordinating pen-and-pencil sets using the same kit design.
