Stabilized curly mango knife block – 1" × 2" × 6"

Create bold, one-of-a-kind knife handles with this stabilized curly mango knife block. Known for its warm golden-to-amber tones and dramatic curl, mango wood offers eye-catching figure with a naturally smooth working feel. Professionally stabilized, this block combines striking visual character with added strength and reliability for knife-making projects that demand both beauty and performance.

Each block is unique. Figure, colour, and curl intensity will vary from piece to piece depending on grain structure and wood density. The block shown in photos has been sanded to reveal the figure and is representative only. Your blocks will be selected at random.

What does “stabilized” mean?

Stabilized refers to wood that has been impregnated with resin under pressure. This process reinforces softer or highly figured areas by filling microscopic voids and strengthening the wood from the inside out. The result is a block that machines more predictably, drills cleanly, and is far more resistant to tear-out, cracking, or blowouts than untreated wood. Some colour variation within a block is normal due to differences in wood density and resin absorption. Minor internal imperfections are a natural part of working with real wood and are not grounds for return.

What is the size of this block?

Each knife block measures approximately 1" × 2" × 6". This versatile size is ideal for a wide range of knife handle styles, providing ample material for shaping, contouring, and final fitting. The photo shown is a representative sample only. Blocks are selected at random and will vary in figure and colour. No refunds for colour variation or minor internal imperfections.

Two fun facts about curly mango

  • Mango wood comes from mature fruit-producing trees that have reached the end of their productive life, making it a sustainable hardwood choice rather than one harvested solely for lumber.
  • Curly mango is prized for its lively chatoyance — as the handle is shaped and finished, the curl can appear to “move” under light, giving finished knife handles a dynamic, almost three-dimensional look.
